If you have been paying attention to the news lately, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered troops into two rebel-held regions in eastern Ukraine, after recognizing them as independent states. He had amassed some 190,000 troops near the Ukrainian border and appeared to be making preparations for war, according to CBS News.
U.S. President Joe Biden's options for countering any military moves into Ukraine are limited. He has said repeatedly that he would not allow American forces to fight in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the conflict spilled over Ukraine’s borders.
Hence, professional skateboarder and The Berrics co-founder Steve Berra dogmatically denounced the idea of war to all skateboarders.
"People will say, keep politics out of skateboarding. To which I say, if we don’t have a planet, we don’t have skateboarding. If you agree, please spread the word. NO WAR." Berra posted on The Berrics official Instagram account.
"Dear Joe Biden and leaders of the world, to say there is reason enough to go to war with one another is a lie." Berra wrote. "The majority of people I know do not want war, do not hope for war and are adamantly opposed to war. There are no winners in any war. Only extinction of human spirit.
He continued. "History has proven this. The skateboarder of America has no quarrel with the skateboarder of Russia or Ukraine. I'm sure that sentiment can be echoed by our farmers, shopkeepers, post office workers, teachers and about every other profession and person you can think of.
"As someone who loves his fellow human being and sees no pleasure in their rule or their demise, I am telling you now, no one wins in a war whereupon both sides possess weapons capable of extinguishing all life on this planet. The irrationality of a few do not represent the wishes of many and shall not be permitted to prevail. NO WAR." Berra explained.
However, the most horrible news happened. Russia has invaded Ukraine - the armed conflict erupted. The current vendetta has severely strained U.S.-Russia relations and increased the risk of a wider European conflict.
