In a tragic incident in Asheville, a 46-year-old skateboarder lost his life after colliding with a trash truck and a car.

The fatal accident occurred when the skateboarder ran a red light, resulting in a collision that claimed his life.

Local authorities confirmed the devastating news near Merrimon Avenue and Marcellus Street around 5:42 a.m. on May 22, shedding light on the details surrounding the incident.

The unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the importance of traffic safety and adherence to traffic signals to prevent such accidents.

According to the police report, Benjamin David Brown was traversing an intersection in North Asheville when he disregarded a red traffic light.

As he was skating, a trash truck and a car traveling through the green light could not avoid the collision.

The crash's impact inflicted fatal injuries on the skateboarder, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene before medical assistance could arrive.

Authorities urge anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
