
A 17-year-old skateboarder from Calgary tragically passed away from his injuries after being hit by a vehicle while riding in the city’s northwest on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred at around 6:20 p.m. in the Huntington Hills area, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
According to reports, the teen was skateboarding near the intersection of Hunterview Drive and Hunterbrook Road Northwest when he was struck by a Buick Enclave, driven by a 79-year-old woman.
The skateboarder was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly after the collision.
Authorities have confirmed that there is no indication that speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and has been cooperating with the police.
