A 19-year-old named Suri Meza was skateboarding to her summer classes when she got hit by an SUV at the intersection of Neptune Avenue and East 12th Street in Brighton Beach, NY.
According to reports, she's in critical condition at NYU Langone-Brooklyn Hospital. Jose Cristales, an off-duty FDNY firefighter, saw the accident and helped free her from under the vehicle, and performed CPR until she started breathing again.
Cristales gave life-saving CPR to Meza, who is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
For Cristales, it's not about getting praise; what matters most is how Meza is doing. "We all get pats on the back for everything we've done, but what really matters is how she's going to do," Cristales said.
Meza's mom, Guerita Flores, is deeply worried and shared that her daughter's health is still unstable.
The community is coming together to support Meza and her family, while the authorities are looking into what happened.
