The 31st Annual Tampa Pro is officially underway, and with it comes a new tee from Skatepark of Tampa that’s making more than just a fit statement.
This year’s shirt, which dropped with the caption “The circus has started,” features an image that’s been getting plenty of love: two gay skaters holding hands.
By putting this image on their signature event tee, Skatepark of Tampa is showing clear support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
It’s not loud or over-explained - it just is. And sometimes that’s exactly what matters most.
The phrase “The circus has started” is a familiar one for anyone who follows Tampa Pro. It’s how SPoT kicks off the annual mayhem that brings skaters from all over the world to Florida.
But this year, along with the usual skate chaos and legendary sessions, there’s also a quiet nod to inclusion, respect, and community.
The shirt is available now both at the park and online through SPoTTampa.com.
And while it's likely to sell out like every year, it’s the message behind it that really stands out.
For many queer skaters, just seeing themselves reflected in one of the most iconic contests in skateboarding means something.
It’s not about turning heads or trying to be the loudest in the room. It’s about showing up and saying, “Yeah, we’re here too.”
SPoT didn’t make a big announcement or craft a statement-packed press release. They just put the design out there, like any other tee, and let it speak for itself.
It’s another step toward skateboarding being a space where more people feel like they belong.
