With new tariffs hitting imports from China, skate shoe prices are on the rise.
As we previously reported, President Donald Trump's tariffs on wood will be driving up skateboard deck prices due to the majority of skateboards being made in China, Mexico, and Canada.
Since almost all sneakers sold in the U.S. come from overseas - mostly China. Brands like Nike, Adidas, and Asics are definitely feeling the squeeze.
According to CNN, about 99% of shoes sold in the U.S. are imported, and a big chunk of that comes from China. So, any extra fees on these imports will probably get passed down to U.S. consumers.
While some companies might try to cover a bit of the extra costs, it’s way more likely we’ll see prices go up at the register.

With prices already climbing, skaters might want to think twice before replacing those worn-out kicks. Might want to stock up on Shoe Goo to make them last longer.
It’s hard to say what will happen in the long run. Some brands might shift production to other countries, but that’s not a quick fix.
Others might focus on releasing more premium options, which usually cost more. Either way, don’t be shocked if your go-to pair starts costing a little extra in the coming months.
