Several skateboarders have been exasperated after a video showed amateur skateboarder Sean Davis, refusing to teach his opponent, Shaun Hover, his "deathblow" finishing move.
The Battle At The Berrics 12 footage emerged with the comments section turned off on its first day, but they decided to turn it back on.
The Berrics is always allowing the skate community to banter and converse in their videos as it is part of free speech and a strong bond.
After the comment section was turned back on, skateboarders around the globe expressed their thoughts on how Davis reacted to the situations of using his rights to have the "challenge flag review" and other behaviors in the game.
The 23-year-old skater may be competitive but, fans are not having it. Fans are saying there are bad referee calls, and some want a rematch.
Last week Davis posted a rematch announcement on his Instagram but deleted it after a day, and skaters thought it was bogus as it is a gamble and he might lose to Hover.
Steve Berra, on the other hand, listened to the skateboarding community's feedback.
"Last week broke my heart. Mostly, because I know Sean Davis and I think what you saw in the edit was not what was there in person. We do our best to create fun videos for you to enjoy." Berra wrote. "Everyone that walks through our doors we consider to be a friend, and subsequently, would never want any harm to come to them."
He added. "We don’t speak poorly of other skaters, it’s not our style. Our mission has always been to celebrate the people who make skateboarding great, from the artists who draw the boards to the filmers who film the videos, the brands that make the products and the skaters who push it all forward, we recognize that each person on a skateboard is valuable."
"With that said, I think we failed Sean Davis last week. What I think was considered on the day, from the people who were there, and afterwards in and around the offices, to be a fun video, Shaun VS Sean, wasn’t quite taken as such by some of you out there." Berra said.
"In fact, it created a reaction so vitriolic I was not only ashamed we failed to see how serious people take BATB, but heartbroken as this was not a skateboarding community we’ve tried to foster. After last Sunday you would have thought Sean was ISIS, the Taliban, Hitler and Dahmer all wrapped up in one. But he isn’t."
"Both he and Shaun Hover are insanely nice people and friends who also never thought this lighthearted game of S.K.A.T.E. would have taken us to here; a first ever REMATCH, just to clear the air," Berra explained. "I apologize to both Sean Davis and Shaun Hover for what happened and for The Berrics miscalculating what we thought was comical in an otherwise pretty typical first round battle."
He continued. "And I would at the same time like to remind everyone that with everything that’s happened in the world the last year and half, we are lucky just to be here, participating in something we all love. There are human beings on the other end of your keyboards and those human beings, I promise you, are doing the best they can just like most of you are and I hope, as a community, this year’s theme of BATB, we can come together to enhance their lives rather than try to destroy them."
