MACBA is in huge trouble as skateboarders try to save Barcelona’s famous skate spot from being destroyed.
The reality is hitting hard. Construction at MACBA has officially started. The first phase is all about expanding the museum, and the iconic 5-stair spot is already gone.
This spot has been a crucial part of skate videos, a hangout for locals and visitors, and a key piece of skateboarding history. Now, it's just a memory.
But that’s not the end of it. The next phase could shake up the whole plaza even more. That’s why the local skate community isn’t keeping quiet.
There’s a protest planned for Thursday, February 27th, at 7 PM, and everyone who wants to keep MACBA the way it is should join in.
Skaters, locals, and anyone who cares are invited to come out, make some noise, and stand up for one of Barcelona’s legendary spots.
MACBA isn’t just a skate spot; it’s a community hub, a cultural icon, and a symbol of creativity and freedom.
Losing bits of it to development would hit hard for both the skate world and the city’s street culture.
If you can’t make it in person, you can still help by signing the petition to hit 25,000 signatures. Every signature counts and shows that this space is important. The fight isn’t over.

"Well, this is a reality, the works have already started. The first phase of the works is the expansion of the museum so the 5 stairs disappear. The second phase will be the rest and that is what we are fighting to keep it as it is.
Next Thursday February 27th at 7pm there will be a protests to preserve the rest of the plaza.
Meanwhile if you want to do your bit sign the petition, let’s see if we reach 25k.Thanks for your support and #SAVEMACBA"
