Professional skateboarder Ryan Sheckler has been a household name in skateboarding for years, and now he’s stepping into a new role on the big screen.
The Sandlot Times head honcho is starring in a new movie called Dream, and filming recently brought him to Auburn.
While the cameras were rolling, he made time for something he’s always been known for which is connecting with the skate community.
During the shoot, Sheckler stopped by the Auburn Skatepark, where word quickly spread that he was in town. Local kids showed up with boards in hand, hoping to catch a glimpse of the pro they’ve grown up watching.
One of the highlights of the day came when he casually pulled off a kickflip over a garbage can, showing that his skills on a skateboard are still as sharp as ever.
The crowd of kids and parents erupted, and the moment felt less like a staged appearance and more like a genuine hangout.
To top it all off, Sheckler surprised several young skaters by giving away complete boards, putting huge smiles on their faces and likely inspiring a new wave of future riders.
The visit wasn’t just about promoting the film.
It reflected Sheckler’s ongoing connection to skateboarding culture and the way he continues to give back to the community that shaped him. For many of the kids in Auburn, it was a day they won’t forget. Seeing a pro not only skate their park but also take the time to encourage them personally.
