As we previously reported, Sandlot Times head honcho Ryan Sheckler received good vibrations with Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch, which led him to join Municipal and leave Enties after 27 years.
With all the blessings he received and hard work, Shecks is now taking on a new role as an Olympic commentator for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
The 34-year-old went on the CBS Mornings show and announced it exclusively to co-hosts Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Nate Burleson.
John Hill Used to Hate Ryan Sheckler: “Who is This Clown?”
"It's just rad that the IOC really recognizes skateboarding as a serious sport, so to be this far into my career and then have the Olympics recignize skateboarding and then get the opportunity to actually to be a part of the broadcast team, is a dream come true for me."
Shecks said he would love to be skating in the competition. However, with his injuries over the years, he couldn't compete with the younger generations as it's really competitive.
As an announcer, Sheckler recognizes the responsibility he holds towards the Olympians and the audience.
He understands the intricacies of skateboarding, including the technical jargon, and is committed to delivering a comprehensive and engaging commentary.
After being sober for years, Shecks has been an excellent influence on the youth and takes good care of his riders, which explains why he values Woodward Camp. He spends time with the young skaters and provides them with valuable lessons not just on the board, but also off the board.
