Skateboarding icon and Hall of Famer Ron Allen has shared his optimistic outlook on the recent changes in leadership at VF Corporation's renowned brand, Vans.
As we previously reported, Vans has hired Lululemon's chief product officer as its global president to help aid their shrinking revenue.
The appointment of Sun Choe on taking leadership without not knowing anything about skateboarding has sparked backlash among core skateboarders who have expressed concerns about the brand's direction.
However, the legendary professional skateboarder brings a different perspective to the table. He sees the potential for growth in Off The Wall footwear line, particularly within the non-skater market.
In a recent statement, Allen remarked, "Ok check it out…we all know that a lot of people that don’t skate wear Vans… so maybe it’s a great idea…you can see the camaraderie..just saying."
Allen is all about staying positive, and he's not the only one. The skateboarding industry as a whole is starting to look outside the box, reaching out to new groups of people beyond the usual crowd to get more sales.
