The skate world lost a real one when Kevin Wilkins, the OG skater who started The Skateboard Mag, passed away.
Core heads in the scene are feeling it hard because Kevin wasn’t just an editor, he was someone who lived and breathed skating and gave it a voice.
Weekend Buzz OG Robert Brink wanted to show some love and respect. He posted about the last time he got to sit down with Kevin and just chop it up on camera.
"This interview went down in October of 2023. We planned to do a second session but Kevin’s health started going downhill, so it never happened," Brink said.
He said that the interview was raw and real. Only the little breaks and audio glitches got cut out. Nothing else was touched. "This is Kevin, all the way, one last time on camera," Brink said.
Brink finished with a shoutout. "We love you and will miss you, Kevin. Thank you for everything."
For everyone who knew him or followed his work, this conversation is the last chance to hear Kevin being Kevin.
He changed the way people looked at skateboarding and gave a lot of people a reason to keep rolling. The streets won’t forget him. RIP legend!
