Weekend Buzz OG host, writer, skateboarder, and Team Handsome fanatic Robert Brink has officially launched his new skateboard company called "The Nine Muses."
The new brand will be part of his upcoming podcast, and all the boards will be limited-edition collaborations.
According to Brink, the decks are made of BBS wood, a solid prefabricated wood element that insulates heat and can carry heavy loads simultaneously. It is durable and maintains its pop for most of its lifespan.
"There will be special pricing so shops can carry them at a competitive price with the market," Brink said. "But they will be collectible wall hangers for most people, I think!"
He added, "There will be journals like I did with The Hundredth Acre and other various lifestyle items. The podcast will also serve as a way to promote the boards—interviewing the collaborators and such in between the regular skater interviews and stuff. Marketing vehicle for the brand essentially."
You can now buy the skateboard decks, griptape, accessories, and more at Brink's website here.
Brink posted, "For the last year I have been working on a project called The Nine Muses ( @theninemvses ) …
Since 1988, skateboarding has shaped my entire life. It’s the lens through which I view and discover and navigate the world.
So while thinking of what do do next in my unending quest for cool endeavors, I decided I wanted to create a brand that encourages others to discover new things from outside of skateboarding, the way skateboarding has always introduced me to things like music, art, film, ways of thinking, etc. when I was younger.
The Nine Muses boards are collaborations with fine artists and feature premium graphic embellishments, laser etchings, stains and veneer layouts to highlight the art as much as possible.
They include a matching signed and numbered bio postcard from the artist, and a free wall mount to hang the board.
They, of course, are skateable too! Made by the fine folks at @bbsmfg!
I am proud to unveil the brand with a collab from @WelderWings: an artist duo from Spain who I discovered while following Tool on tour throughout 2023 and 2024. They created the art for many of the limited edition posters sold at each stop, and their posters quickly became the fastest-selling posters at the venues and the most sought after posters on the resale market, fetching up to $1,000 or more on eBay. But more importantly ... the art is beautiful and mind bending and appeals to fans of the surreal and the macabre, like myself.
I hope some of you will follow along on this new journey with me, discover new things, see something you like and get inspired.
The web store is now open (robbrink.com / link in bio) and you can shop right here on IG too.
The merch is available exclusively at @facesskateshop at the moment. Thanks for the support @andrew.nicolaus_ & @dashawnjordan! Also a huge thank you to @jimthiebaud, @mattevs, @rfmuldowney,
@joshuaclements ... couldn’t have done it without you!"
