Former Baker Skateboards professional skateboarder Kader Sylla had difficulty moving to a different company because The Boss, Andrew Reynolds put him on to become who he is today.
With the reach and respect of the core community from The Boss, Sylla took a while to figure out if he really wanted to leave or stay with Baker.
According to Sylla,he was reluctant to leave as he was very close to his friends who were associated with William Strobeck's brand, Violet Skateboards.
"We talked it out. We talked about it a lot. He helped me like go through that and helped me with the whole like going there." Saylla explained, "He helped me with that stuff you know."
We reported last year that Sylla joined the Violet brand. Hence, fans called him out for his treacherous from Reynolds.
Despite the risks, the 21-year-old decided to follow his heart and left his current company to join a competitor.
Strobeck also told Sylla and the whole team that they are part owners of Violet Skateboards. "It's kind of like I'm starting my own brand in a way like it's kind of helping this brand build up to hopefully become whatever the next thing," Sylla said.
Sylla confirmed that he has been wanting to be an entrepreneur. "I feel like you either become a brand owner or an employee forever. So either go the Rob Dyrdek route. "He explained. "That's the only route I want."
He also moved to New York because it's easier to be with his teammates and skate two blocks instead of driving 30 minutes just to skate the streets.
