SideWalk Distribution Teases The Return of The OG Brand Popwar

There’s something cooking at SideWalk Distribution, and longtime skaters might recognize the smell.

With a short post that simply read “Coming soon,” folks like Louie Barletta, Bill Weiss, Hugh “Bod” Boyle, Steve Douglas, and Steve Rocco just hinted at something that got a lot of skaters talking and maybe doing a double take.

Could Popwar be making a return?

For those who’ve been around the scene for a while, Popwar holds a special spot in skate history.

Back in the early 2000s, pro skater Cairo Foster, who had spent years riding for New Deal, wanted to take a different direction.

In 2002, he helped start Populis Skateboards, which later evolved into Popwar.

There’s no big, deep meaning behind the name. It just sounded cool and felt right. And that vibe (uh, feeling?) carried through everything they did.

The brand stood out with its sleek graphics, creative riders, and a style that felt fresh at the time.

They weren’t just another company throwing boards on the wall. With riders like Raymond Molinar, Chad TimTim, and Kenny Reed, Popwar built a solid rep among people who appreciated clean and stylish skating.

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything official about the brand.

Its last days are a bit of a blur. No dramatic shutdown, no farewell video. Just a slow fade.

But over the years, its legacy has stuck around, especially for skaters who were into that early-2000s era. You’ll still catch people talking about the old boards and wishing for a reissue.

As for Foster’s involvement in this possible revival? No word yet.

It’s all pretty hush-hush at the moment, but we’ll keep an eye on it. If he is part of it, that would be huge, but even if he’s not, just seeing something with the Popwar name attached again is enough to get people talking.

Whatever this “coming soon” ends up being, it’s got people curious. Maybe it’s a reissue. Maybe it’s a full brand revival. Either way, it’s got Popwar fans checking their feeds a little more often than usual.
