As we previously reported, pro skater Nyjah Huston recently shared about his Olympic bronze medal that started showing signs of wear not long after the Paris Games wrapped up.
Yep, the shiny accolade that marked his incredible performance during the men’s street skateboarding competition was starting to look a little worse for wear.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has now taken his medal to fix it up properly. Nyjah said that he’s really happy they’re repairing the original piece instead of swapping it out.
For him, keeping the actual medal he earned is way more meaningful than just getting a fresh replacement.
Nyjah also opened up about his plans for the future. Even though he’ll be 33 by the time the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics roll around, he’s aiming to make another appearance on the Olympic stage.
He wasn’t making any guarantees about medals this time around but shared that he’ll be doing everything he can to stay in top shape, work on new tricks, and keep up with younger competitors.
“I’m not going to say I expect to win another medal, but I want to keep myself healthy and keep skating hard,” Nyjah said. It’s clear he’s still passionate about the game and ready to keep throwing down some amazing tricks for years to come.
All in all, it’s pretty cool to see an athlete like Nyjah care so much about the details, even something like a bit of wear on a medal, and still have his sights set on what’s next.
