NBC plans to place heart-rate monitors on parents of athletes competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The heart-rate data will be shown live onscreen to engage the Olympic audience and get higher ratings. NBC believes viewers enjoy seeing 'moms and dads watch their kids compete,' hence this measure.
In addition, Sandlot Times head honcho and professional skateboarder Ryan Sheckler will announce the Olympic skateboarding together with the Dog father Snoop Dogg.
It is still being determined whether the monitors will be placed on only Americans or all athletes. Furthermore, it is not specified if skateboarding will have parents subject to the heart-rate monitors.
The Olympics will take place in Paris between July 26 and August 11, 2024. As NBC has exclusive rights to air Olympic events in the US, the viewers in the US will be able to watch the games on NBC.
