Bassist and vocalist of the iconic pop-punk band Blink 182, Mark Hoppus, has paid homage to the passing of a skateboarding legend and pioneer, "Big O."

Big O was a highly influential figure in the skateboarding world, known for his impressive skills, unique style, and role in shaping skateboarding culture.

His passing has been felt deeply by the skateboarding community and those who knew him personally, including Hoppus.

In a recent Instagram post, Hoppus shared a heartfelt tribute to O, describing him as "a true skateboarding legend, an inspiration, and a friend." Hoppus also expressed his gratitude for O's impact on his life.

"Very saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend O," Hoppus said. "O was the first person to believe in a blink when we were just some skate rats playing in front of ten people in the basement of a club in San Diego."

"He helped get us signed to our first record deal. He was a friend and mentor. And not just for us." He added. "For so many musicians, athletes, and photographers in the Southern California underground scene. He documented skateboard culture, played in countless bands, and was just…always there. A legend."

He continued. "I was writing about him last night and woke up to learn he's gone. A huge loss. Here he is at the board during our recording of Cheshire Cat, which coincidentally came out 28 years ago today. Thank you, O. You changed all our lives."
