There Skateboards professional skateboarder Marbie Miller recently sat down with the San Francisco Public Library to talk about all things SF. The skate scene, culture, and what keeps her rolling through the streets.

For Miller, skateboarding isn’t just about landing tricks or filming clips. It’s a way to connect with herself.

The trans & bi pro skater shared that skating alone is one of the best ways to clear her mind and work through emotions. "Skating by yourself is kind of like one of the best ways for me to get my emotions out and feel like I did something with my day."

She added, "I try to remind myself even if I don't progress or do anything, I was proud of that day. I'm like, you got out there and burned some calories."

Miller also talked about how skateboarding has shaped who she is. Growing up in the skate scene boosted her confidence, and the DIY mentality kept her hyped to keep skating.

Being surrounded by people in the streets who made her feel at home inspired her a lot.

Sometimes, just chilling and cruising by yourself is enough to feel good and stay connected to what you love.
