Guy Azulay is just a chill skateboarder who loves shredding the streets and doing his own thing.
Lately, though, he’s been getting a ton of attention for something he never signed up for: looking just like Luigi Mangione, the dude who got arrested for allegedly killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
It all kicked off when Azulay posted a skate clip doing tricks in a parking lot. Before he knew it, the clip went viral, and people flooded the comments, convinced they were looking at Mangione himself. Spoiler alert: they weren’t.
“It’s been kind of wild, but I think it’s funny,” Azulay said. “Like, out of all the things to blow up, it’s just because I look like someone else. But I’m not mad about it.”
The first comparison hit him at a grocery store when someone mistook him for Mangione. He thought it was a fluke—until his skate video blew up online. Now his social media is packed with comments, and his follower count has skyrocketed.
But don’t think Azulay is trying to cash in on this newfound fame. According to TMZ, he’s been taking it all in stride but is clear about not wanting to turn his crazy resemblance into a paycheck.
“I don’t see any harm in it,” he said. “It’s pretty wild that people actually think it’s him. Honestly, it’s just funny.”
For Azulay, skating and music are where it's at. When he's not nailing tricks, he’s playing in his band, tankerlow. Plus, he’s already got sponsorships with brands like New Balance, WKND, Carhartt, and Pepper Griptape. So yeah, he’s good without chasing the Mangione hype.
That said, he’s not totally against having a little fun with it. When asked if he’d think about playing Mangione in a movie, Azulay joked, “If any studios need a stunt double, I’m their guy.”
But for now, he’s cool with just being himself. “Some friends have suggested it,” he said. “But I don’t think I want to spend my life being a Luigi lookalike. I’m just gonna stick to what I’m doing.”
