As we previously reported, professional skateboarder Evan Smith mentioned that running a skate brand while also being a pro skater isn’t realistic.

But LGBTQIA+ pro skater Leo Baker is proving that it’s not only possible. It’s happening. He is not backing down and is showing the world that queer skateboarders can do it too - on their own terms.
Leo, who’s long been one of the most visible supporters for the growing queer skateboarders out there, just dropped a teaser for their new company Tacky Joy Factory, and it’s got that raw, DIY feel that doesn’t try to be too polished - which honestly feels right on time.
The clip features strong footage from Nora Baker, Rocco Marsh, and Tristan Beasen, with Leo anchoring the whole thing. It ends with a line that feels like a bit of a mission statement: “Welcome to The Circus.”
Their Instagram account popped up recently, already showcasing a glimpse into what they’re about - one standout post shows Marisa Dal Santo holding a Tacky Joy Factory board.
Dal Santo’s a name that’s been missing from the spotlight for a bit, so seeing her show up here feels like a meaningful reunion of sorts.
And yeah, we also reported that Manny Santiago voiced some frustration with how small brands keep popping up and eating into the market, leaving bigger companies struggling to stay relevant. But that doesn’t seem to be stopping Leo.
Instead of trying to fit into the mold or follow the usual playbook, Tacky Joy Factory looks like it’s carving out its own corner of the scene.
Leo’s not pretending this’ll be easy.
But they’re clearly more interested in making something honest, something that feels personal and fun. And that might just be what makes it stick.
Keep your eyes open, homies! This isn’t a flash-in-the-pan kind of thing. Tacky Joy Factory is here, and it’s already got our attention.
