The famous brick quarter pipes in Downtown Los Angeles, right across from City Hall at 225 N Los Angeles Street, have been destroyed, leaving the skateboarding community stunned and frustrated.

Skaters from all over the world knew this spot. It had been featured in countless video parts and clips over the past couple decades, standing as one of LA’s most iconic urban skate spots. Now, it's gone.

According to people who live nearby, the destruction came during a recent anti-ICE protest organized by left-leaning activist groups.

Multiple witnesses claim that the protest, which began peacefully, spiraled into something far more chaotic.

A few protesters reportedly took it upon themselves to wreck parts of the area, including the historic brick quarters.

This isn’t the first time political protests have clashed with public spaces, but targeting a place so connected to LA’s skate history caught many off guard.

Skaters are pointing fingers not just at the vandals themselves, but at protest organizers and political groups who may have allowed things to go too far.

On social media, skaters expressed anger and confusion.

Some asked why this particular spot was targeted at all. “This place had nothing to do with ICE. It’s just a spot we grew up skating,” one user posted. Others are calling for accountability, while some are already brainstorming ways to rebuild it.

While many Democrats and liberal activists have spoken out against ICE and its practices in recent years, especially during the Trump administration, the vast majority focus their efforts on advocacy and policy change.

Actions like these are usually the work of smaller radical groups acting without the support of the broader movement.

Still, when damage like this happens during a protest tied to left-wing politics, the fallout often spreads wider than the individuals directly involved.
