Former DGK professional skateboarder Keelan Dadd left Lord Williams' DGK brand back in 2014, with his infamous text from KAYO Corp regarding his $10,000 monthly salary demand that circulated online.
Dadd revealed in a recent interview on The Bunt Live podcast that the $10,000 monthly salary demand he was rumored to have made to DGK was actually "modified a little bit."
According to Dadd, his departure from the company was not solely about the money but about seeking personal growth and a change of direction.
He expressed that despite the good pay and other benefits, he felt it was time to move on after being with DGK for a long time.
Dadd also mentioned that he wanted to appeal to a wider audience, while the brand seemed to be focusing more on a younger crowd.
He clarified that the $10,000 monthly salary demand was part of a full DGK package (including sponsorship for riding DGK boards and wearing DGK apparel) and that he was willing to take a pay cut to show his support and loyalty.
Dadd said that he tried to negotiate and didn't want to be tied to one brand since he wanted to wear other clothing.
"The brand was throwing money at me, and I'm like, yo, it's not even about the money," he said. "I'll take half the check, I'll take $2,500, $3,000, whatever it may be, to be able to do what I want to do because I know how to move. It just became back and forth, and sometimes you got to shut up and take the money, but I was like, nah."
However, they couldn't reach an agreement despite his efforts to explain his side until his "Honey" brand with Baby Scumbag blew up, according to the Switch God originator.
