Keegan Palmer crushed it once again, defending his Olympic gold at Paris 2024. With Tony Hawk and Snoop Dogg watching, the 21-year-old Australian proved he's the boss of the Olympic park event, securing back-to-back gold medals in the heart of Paris.
Despite tough competition and previous knee injuries, Palmer snagged the gold, showing everyone he's still got it.
This win marked Australia's second gold in skateboarding at these Games, following Arisa Trew's victory in the women's park event.
And although young skater Keefer Wilson gave it his all, he landed in eighth place after an incomplete run in the final.
Palmer set the bar high with his first run, securing a score no one could top. Even though the top five skaters were only separated by two points, Palmer's performance was unrivaled.
The final was intense, with six skaters stumbling on their first attempts, leaving Palmer and American Tom Schaar in the spotlight.
Schaar put up a solid 90.11 in his run, but Palmer outshone him, celebrating with hugs and high fives.
The audience was on the edge of their seats as World No. 1 Tate Carew delivered an impressive 91.17 on his second try, yet Schaar came close with a 92.23.
Palmer's third run was pure victory, and with Schaar falling short in his final attempt, the gold was undoubtedly Palmer’s. In the preliminaries, Palmer's consistent performance, including a standout 93.78, earned him the last-run advantage in the final.
Although his second run showed promise, it ended in a spill, but he bounced back with a triumphant third run that had fans cheering loudly for the Aussie champ.
Palmer's win cements his status as a skateboarding superstar and leaves an indelible mark on the skateboarding world.
