When a skater gets the call that they are officially turning pro, it is always a huge moment for them, the homies, and everyone who has been watching them grow over the years.
That was the case for John Baragwanath this week after Hopps Skateboards welcomed him to the pro team.
The announcement came directly from the head honcho of Hopps Jahmal Williams, who shared their excitement online by saying:
“Congratulations to John Baragwanath! @cheyennedam The newest pro for Hopps Skateboards”. We would like to thank everyone who came out last night to show their love & support for John B. Shout outs to @alx.reyes , @stienerrecliner , @peterpeterson and @theoriesofatlantis Distribution and a very very.. Special thanks to @pepkim and @chrystienyc for helping make last night’s celebration possible.
We love you guys!!
#Keepitmoving."
Hopps gave shout outs to several people involved in the celebration including Cheyenne Dam, Alex Reyes, Peter Peterson, and Theories of Atlantis for helping make the night happen. They also gave extra love to Pep Kim and Chrystie NYC for helping put everything together.
For longtime followers of Baragwanath, seeing him earn a pro board feels well deserved. Over the years he has built a strong reputation through his skating, style, and steady presence around the New York scene.
He has always looked comfortable on a skateboard and people naturally connected with the way he approaches skating without trying too hard to impress anyone.
Hopps Skateboards has always had its own identity within skateboarding, focusing more on creativity, friendship, and authentic skating rather than chasing trends.
Baragwanath fits naturally into that family, which is probably why so many people seemed genuinely happy to see the announcement.
Now that John Baragwanath is officially pro for Hopps, fans will definitely be looking forward to future video parts, boards, and whatever else comes next for him and the team.
