Professional skateboarder and model Alex Olson have confirmed the demise of his skateboard company "Call me 917" via Jenkem's interview.
Olson will have enormous pressure on the future of his business 917, but he said he was learning to live with the expectations that exploded when his team members quit.
"I mean I made a joke because it was like what are you supposed to do like you can't cry about it," Olson said when asked about the meme. "I don't know I was like how do you try to find the humor in it. I mean when Cyrus quit I sent it to him like check it out."
"But yeah basically the whole team quit because I have to give everyone a pay cut sorry," Olson said. "You know and then they're not happy but also there was a discrepancy of graphics because they're like "We want these graphics" and you're like it looks like you just learned photoshop on YouTube two weeks ago."
Even in a year so disrupted by the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, the 35-year-old established himself as one of skateboarding's creative people by setting sensational merchandise drops.
He also admitted that he was not present for the 917 team. "That usually what happens with companies is when the head dude isn't present. There's lack of leadership." Olson said.
"Well, the whole thing Osiris quit and then it went a domino effect happened like you know covid happened and pay cut happened." He continued. "I'm over it and then you know Max is like Cyrus is off I might as well leave."
