Police are searching for the ‘heroic’ skateboarders after they subdue the suspect that knifed a man to death in the middle of Oxford Circus.
According to the online edition of The Mirror, Stephen Dempsey, 60, was stabbed to death before 8 pm on Thursday in Oxford Circus in central London in what is believed to be a random attack outside the Microsoft store.
Dempsey was rushed to the hospital where he died later in the evening resulting from his severe injuries.
The two skateboarders stepped forward and tried to prevent Tedi Fanta Hagos, 25, from his wrongdoing.
The 25-year-old suspect from Swansea has since been charged with his murder.
Detectives say that one of the skaters used his skateboard to pin down Hagos before police arrived and arrested him. The suspect did not sustain any lasting injuries.
After the emergency services arrived, the two skaters left the scene without speaking to police officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Tunstall said: “In addition to being immensely brave, we believe these two individuals may also be key witnesses."
"They can be assured that we wish to speak to them solely as witnesses.”
