Skateboarding filmmakers Josh Peacock Henderson and David Duesterberg have officially announced the release of their upcoming fire, pools, skateboarding, and tiles documentary entitled "All That's Left," coming in early 2023.
The skate film is a documentary following a group of skateboarders as they find, clean, and ride empty swimming pools left behind in areas hit by the recent devastating wildfires along the west coast. We will visit towns such as Paradise, CA, Santa Rosa, CA, Malibu, CA, San Bernardino, CA, and Medford, OR.
Their story begins with Hamish Patterson - an avid skateboarder and environmentalist best known for his viral youtube videos under the name "The Illusion."
Hamish lost his house in the Woosley fire in Malibu, and his wife left him just days after the fire. He and his three-year-old son Owl are left to pick up the pieces. They explore the burnt wreckage of their neighborhood and find empty pools to skate and, ultimately, something fun and beautiful out of devastation.
Alongside Patterson's story, the crew followed some of the most respected and skilled pool skateboarders such as John Worthington, Jesse Lindloff, and Tristan Rennie,
Other skateboard superstars such as Tony Hawk, CJ Collins, and Olympic Gold Medalist Keegan Palmer sought skate-able terrain in burn zones. They navigated a thin moral boundary between trespassing and creating during the tragedy.
All That's Left will come full circle with the story of the first documented evidence of pool skating, which also happened because of a fire in Malibu. Skateboard legends Steve Alba and Herbie Fletcher tells the story.
Henderson and Duesterberg are hoping to raise $30,000 to complete the film. It will go towards a faster editing computer, necessary camera and sound equipment, lighting, money to offset their costs, travel, travel budget for their talent, and entrance fees to film festivals.
