YouTube skater Joa “Gifted Hater” Field came through wild again and put the whole skate world on notice.
Instead of saluting the legends who built the scene, he straight up said “F*ck The OGs” and called it how he sees it.
He named names too. Eric Koston, Paul Rodriguez, Tony Hawk, Andrew Reynolds, Gino Iannucci. No one got a pass. To him, they’re holding onto the spotlight while skating has already passed them by. Gifted Hater says they don’t bring the same rawness and creativity that younger skaters are dropping right now.
He really pressed Thrasher Magazine too. He said they ain’t showing the hardest skating anymore, that they let brands decide who gets the shine. He brought up Reynolds landing a kickflip wallride that got the front cover. Instead of respecting it, Gifted Hater claimed the only reason it was on the mag is because New Balance cut the check. He says it’s not about skill or clips anymore, it’s about who’s sponsored by the big money brands.
Then he came for Gino Iannucci. He clowned him for having no heat on Instagram and even said, “Gino f*cking sucks, like who actually likes Gino.” That’s the type of callout that splits the skate world. Some people laughed and agreed, others were heated because Gino is considered a style icon.
But Gifted Hater made it bigger than just calling out names. He said the older skaters are sitting on big shoe deals and corporate contracts while kids half their age are landing way heavier tricks with no recognition.
As we previously reported, Chris Senn once said, that once you hit your mid thirties, you can’t really be considered pro anymore. According to him, the OGs are milking the industry instead of making room for the new blood.
Koston caught even more smoke. Gifted Hater brought up the Nike SB Air Max and the old beef between Koston and Stevie Williams, now known as Lord Williams. He used it as an example of how out of touch the corporate side of skating has gotten.
He didn’t stop there. He called out EDGLRD and the billionaire investors David and Simon Reuben backing it up, saying it’s just another sign that skating has lost its realness. In his eyes, the legends are part of the machine now. Instead of holding down core skate brands, they took the corporate bag and let the culture fade.
P Rod got dragged too. Gifted Hater went at him by name and hinted at deeper issues but we cannot fully talk about it for legal reasons, but you can peep his video for the full breakdown.
The way Gifted Hater sees it, the OGs already had their run. They made their money, they got their shine, and now they’re blocking the younger generation from getting the same love. He’s basically saying the torch should have been passed a long time ago.
No matter how you feel about it, Gifted Hater has people talking. Some think he’s speaking the truth and finally calling out the old heads who stopped producing. Others think he’s disrespecting the people who paved the way for skateboarding to even exist.
One thing’s clear though. He’s not scared to stir the pot and his “F*ck The OGs” line might go down as one of the most reckless things said in the skate scene in a minute.
