Finally, after years of hell, there’s a pause on all the fighting in Gaza.
On Friday, a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect and people are breathing again. Families are moving from the south up to Gaza City, and the Israeli military is stepping back to the line everyone agreed on.
President Donald Trump posted the news online on Wednesday, saying hostages would be freed and Israeli forces would pull back.
The deal is a big moment for him and for people living through this conflict, but not everything is locked down yet.
No one knows exactly what Gaza will look like after all this, and there are still tough questions on the table.
Hamas says the deal is meant to stop the war for good, not just put it on pause like before. Still, there were reports of airstrikes and artillery in Gaza early Friday. Smoke was seen rising across the city and people stayed alert, but the withdrawal is happening fast and is expected to finish in under 24 hours.
Part of the deal includes freeing hostages. Twenty are alive, two are in serious condition, and twenty-eight have died.
Hamas has 72 hours to release them after the formal objections window closes. Trump says it could happen Monday or Tuesday. The plan is to release all living hostages at once, and the remains of those who passed will be returned too.
Prisoners are also part of the deal. About 250 Palestinians serving life and 1,700 others will be released from Israeli jails, though the exact list is still being worked out. Anyone convicted of murder won’t be sent to the West Bank, and transfers to other countries are still being sorted. Marwan Barghouti will not be freed.
Through all this, the Gaza Skate Team dropped a message that hit hard.
They said:
"Finally, the war will end.
We congratulate ourselves and all our families and children in G@z@ on the end of this nightmare. We will live in peace, and we pray that war never returns."
They added:
"Finally, the war will end.
We congratulate ourselves and all our families and children in G@z@ on the end of this nightmare. We will live in peace, and we pray that war never returns. We thank everyone who stood with us, who always supported us, and who helped us overcome everything we witnessed in this nightmare.
And we thank all the people around the world who protested to end the injustice we endured.
Greetings and gratitude from G@z@."
For kids skating in the streets, for families just trying to survive, for anyone who has been through the nights of fear, this is a moment to breathe. The war isn’t erased overnight, but this ceasefire gives people a shot at normal life, at peace, and at dreaming again.
