As we previously reported, Kyle Walsh landed the longest 420 foot grind on a rail, defeating Kanaan Dern, Garett Ginner and Maxim Habanec.
The battle had already turned into a ridiculous game of seeing who could build something longer and actually make it to the other end.
After Walsh took the 420 foot record, Ginner apparently decided he was not done yet.
With no sponsor or company backing the project, Ginner took the DIY route and started building his own rail.
What followed was 14 days of work, countless attempts and a serious amount of steel.
Now Ginner has officially landed a 500 foot grind.
According to Ginner, the project required 35 hours of attempts and another 56 hours of labor. He also spent just under $4,000 on steel to get the setup built.
Ginner shared the result online, writing:
“35 hours of attempts, 56 hours of labor, and a little under $4,000 in steel, and we finally conquered the 500 foot rail
Originally the plan was to stop here, but now I wanna see how far we can take this
”
That last part might be the most interesting detail.

The original plan was apparently to finish at 500 feet, but after landing it, Ginner is already thinking about going longer.
Walsh, who previously held the longest grind record, seems to have reached the end of his current supply of materials.
He responded with a pretty simple explanation:
“I’m all out of pipe dude
let’s collab for 1,000”
So after going from 420 feet to 500 feet, the conversation has already jumped to 1,000 feet to see who will become the king of the longest grind.
At this point, the whole thing has gone well beyond simply trying to land a long rail. These setups take serious time, money and physical work before anyone even gets a chance to grind them.
And there is still another question hanging over the whole thing.
What are the Dern brothers doing?

They have yet to respond, but considering how competitive the Dern brothers have been throughout this whole battle, it would not be out of character for something else to be in the works.
There are also rumors that the Dern brothers have been working on something at Castle Bam.
So while Ginner has 500 feet under his belt and Walsh is calling for a 1,000 foot collaboration, this ridiculous rail competition may not be anywhere near finished
