Forrest Frank is currently recovering after fracturing his spine in a skateboarding accident.
The Christian singer behind “Good Day,” “UP,” and “Your Way’s Better” shared that he broke his L3 and L4 vertebrae while skating with his two-year-old son, Bodie.
It wasn’t a wild trick or anything intense. Just a chill afternoon on the board. In a post, Forrest admitted he wasn’t wearing a helmet and didn’t think anything serious would happen. But security footage shows the moment things went wrong. He fell off his skateboard and landed hard on the edge of a sidewalk.
Even though the injury is serious, Forrest has been staying grounded in his faith. He posted a video from his bed, explaining that he felt led to sing whatever came to him and build music around it. He looked tired and in pain but focused.
The result was a song that a lot of people connected with right away. It was simple and real. No production. Just Forrest, a mic, and words that came straight from the heart.
Here are some of the lyrics
God’s got my back
Even when I fall or get attacked
God’s got my back
Even when I’m low and full of lack
God’s got my back
Even when my soul is full of sorrow
I don’t have to worry about tomorrow
The video picked up traction quickly. Fans started commenting, sharing, and even recording their own responses. Forrest later said the song had already been viewed hundreds of thousands of times in just a few hours. He wrote that he could feel God moving through it.
In another post, he gave a few more details. The accident happened while skating with Bodie. He said it was a casual moment and he didn’t think to gear up. He also said he felt incredibly thankful it was not any worse.
He mentioned his wife Grace and apologized for needing to stay in bed for a while. Despite the setback, Forrest continues to post short updates and moments of worship. One video shows him singing quietly with his eyes closed. Another one includes a simple line that says a lot
“Today is the day that the Lord has made. Even with all the bad in it.”
The comments are full of encouragement and prayers. People are thanking him for being open. Some are sharing their own stories of recovery. Others are simply letting him know they are praying.
Right now Forrest is stuck at home and resting. But the music has not stopped. If anything, it feels more honest than ever.
