After spending more than forty years behind the lens documenting skateboarding across generations, photographer Dave Swift is preparing to release his first-ever photo book, "All In - Dave Swift Skateboard Photography 1989–2025."
Published by Oro Editions and announced by ACC Art Books, the collection arrives this May and brings together decades of imagery that helped shape how skateboarding has been seen around the world.
As a longtime editor for TransWorld SKATEboarding and The Skateboard Mag, Swift had a front-row seat to many of the culture’s defining moments. His camera followed professionals and amateurs alike, capturing everything from contest scenes to street sessions that marked entire eras.
Spanning from the late 1980s through 2025, the book offers a broad look at how skateboarding evolved across styles, locations, and generations. Rather than focusing solely on tricks, Swift’s work highlights the personalities and dedication behind the riders.
Many influential figures have contributed to the project, including Tony Hawk, Geoff Rowley, Christian Hosoi, Kris Markovich, Atiba Jefferson, Danny Way, Sky Brown, Keegan Palmer, Lizzie Armanto, and others who helped shape skateboarding over the years. Their involvement reflects Swift’s deep connection to the community throughout his career.
The release marks his first large-scale book despite decades of magazine publishing. In print form, the images can be experienced more slowly, allowing readers to appreciate details that might otherwise be missed.
The collection also functions as a visual timeline. From early street skating to modern competitions and global expansion, the photographs show how the culture grew while maintaining its independent spirit. Fashion, board design, filming styles, and urban landscapes shift throughout the pages, reflecting skateboarding’s changing identity.
OG skate heads who grew up reading magazines may recognize many of the images instantly, while newer audiences can discover moments that helped define today’s scene. The blend of classic and recent work connects generations of skateboarders who share the same passion as the culture continues to evolve.
