YouTube sensation and The Nine Club host Chris Roberts shared a devastating update with fans about his childhood home that was lost in the recent Southern California wildfires.
In a new vlog, he visits what remains of his old neighborhood, showing the charred remains of the house he grew up in.
The fires, which started in early January 2025, have been some of the worst in California’s history.
As of January 31, at least 29 people have lost their lives, over 200,000 have been forced to evacuate, and more than 18,000 homes and buildings have been reduced to ashes. The scale of destruction has left entire communities struggling to recover.
For Roberts, this loss hits especially hard. His childhood home wasn’t just a house. It was where he first picked up a skateboard, where he and his friends spent hours watching skate videos, and where his love for skating really took off.
Walking through the remains, he points out spots that held years of memories, now buried under piles of rubble and ash.
Because of the disaster, The Nine Club crew had to postpone their show.
Fans have flooded his social media with messages of support, offering words of encouragement and sharing their own experiences of loss.
In the midst of everything, Roberts remains grateful that his family made it out safely.
As California works to contain the fires and help those affected, the skateboarding community has already started rallying around Roberts and others impacted.
Skate brands, fellow skaters, and fans are coming together to offer support, showing that even in the worst moments, the connections built through skateboarding run deep.
