Professional skateboarder Chaz Ortiz recently shared a personal achievement that is more than just contests or video parts.
The DGK pro took to social media to announce that he’s officially 31 days sober, along with a month-long break from his phone, describing it as a time to reset and refocus.
“31 days sober! No phone for a month. Really tapping into myself feeling blessed ! Definitely a new chapter in life ! Can’t wait for new beginnings ❤️ so much support to keep pushing ! 🙌🏾” Ortiz wrote.
The past few years haven’t been without challenges for Ortiz.
Since making his mark at a young age, he’s been in the spotlight, navigating the ups and downs that come with professional skateboarding.
Stepping away from distractions and focusing on personal growth is no small task, especially in an industry where constant movement and social presence often feel necessary.
Ortiz’s choice to put his health first has gotten a lot of support from fellow pro skateboarders and fans.
Sobriety isn’t always talked about openly in skateboarding, but more pros have been speaking up about making changes for the better.
With Ortiz embracing a new direction, his future both on and off the board looks promising.
As he puts it, this is just the beginning. Whatever’s next, he’s got plenty of support behind him.
