Skateboarding legend Chad Muska has been putting in serious hours lately. Not at the skatepark, but in front of a computer screen.
He recently shared an update that he’s been learning an animation program and has already spent about ten days straight getting the hang of it.
Muska said he’s just testing things out right now and that the designs aren’t finished yet, but even so, the experience has already been huge for him.
He admitted that learning this might be the most exciting thing he’s done since picking up a skateboard. That’s a big statement coming from someone who’s been such an influence in skating, fashion, and music.
What makes this interesting is how personal it feels. Muska explained that he’s had tons of ideas stuck in his head for years and animation is finally giving him a way to bring them to life. For someone who’s always been a creative thinker, this is more than just learning a new tool. It’s unlocking a part of his brain that’s been waiting for the right outlet.
The only downside, he says, is staring at a screen all day. It’s not the easiest shift from an active, on-the-go lifestyle to sitting down and focusing for hours, but he knows that putting in the work is the only way to really learn. He wrapped up his post saying he was hyped but needed to get some rest.
It’s cool to see someone who’s been in the public eye for so long still chasing new skills and trying to grow. Muska could easily kick back and enjoy what he’s already accomplished, but instead he’s choosing to learn something totally different.
If his past work is anything to go by, the projects coming out of this phase are going to reflect the same originality and style he’s known for.
Keep going, Muska. The ideas are flowing, and we’re here for it.
