Brent “The Schnide” Schneider left an unforgettable mark on everyone lucky enough to skate, camp, eat burritos, or just hang out with him.
After a long and difficult fight with cancer, Brent passed away, but what he gave to skateboarding and to the people around him is still very much alive.
If you ever saw Brent skate, you knew right away he was different. He wasn’t chasing medals or magazine covers.
He skated because it was who he was. Sweaty stalled inverts that made people yell, body jars that ended in the dirt more than once, and eggplants that seemed to appear out of nowhere - those were just part of his regular day at the ramp.
He wasn’t out to impress anyone, but he always ended up doing just that.
He also didn’t stop living the way he loved. He hit the Oregon coast during summer breaks. That meant camping with friends, quiet time with family, road trips, skating backyard bowls, and finding the best burritos in whatever town they ended up in. It was the same balance of adventure and chill that made Brent so great to be around.
There are people skating today who only picked up a board because Brent gave them one. There are stories being told in Chico, San Diego, and all across California about the guy who didn’t need a spotlight to shine.
We’ll miss you, Schnide, and thank you for everything.
