Pro skateboarder Andy Roy just hit five years of clean and sober living, and honestly, it’s wild how life has changed for him.
The same guy who used to run from the cops is now chilling with them over tea, chatting about ways to support local skateboarders.
Redlands Police reached out to him to be part of an event at the skatepark. Something fun for the kids and skaters, really for the whole community.
For years, Roy was known for living on the edge. Going full throttle on his board, partying hard, and pushing limits.
But addiction eventually caught up with him, leading to a rough ride filled with legal troubles and chaos. It was a tough cycle to break.
But somewhere along the line, he decided to turn it all around. Getting clean wasn’t a piece of cake, but it flipped his life upside down for the better.
It’s pretty cool that the local police want to do something for skateboarders, and Roy is all for it.
Five years ago, none of this looked possible. Roy was heading down a completely different path, and moments like this felt unreal.
But now he’s proving that change is possible and that you really can get a second chance. Skateboarding gave him a purpose, and he’s using his story to show others that there’s always a way forward.

"Today I have 5 years clean and sober and I never in a million years thought the Sargent of @redlandspolice would be hitting me up asking to meet up and talk about a event they are doing and have me involved.in it are kidding me sitting down with cops drinking tea pretty crazy, I’m still tripping on it but to be honest I’d rather be drinking tea with them planning something positive for the local skateboarders and kids than them putting handcuffs on me haha, they reached out to me to help out , support a event at the Redlands skatepark for the skateboarders, kids, families and the community of Redlands. From running from cops to sitting down having tea having a cool conversation wanting to do something cool with skateboarders was pretty rad. For them to do something positive for the skateboarders I back 100%!!!!
May sound crazy coming from me but they were coolest dudes! Excited to be a part of what they are doing. Thank you Danny for the tea and for your services!!!
Miracles do happen when you get clean!!!!👍"
