Building a skatepark in Gaza has not been easy, especially without backing from the skateboarding industry.

But the local skateboarding community is doing what it can with the resources available, taking on the work themselves to create a place where children can enjoy skating.
While free skateparks continue to be built across the U.S. and skateboarding organizations and foundations support local skaters, Gaza Skate Team is still struggling to build a skatepark of its own without industry backing.
The team recently shared an update on its DIY skatepark project, giving followers a look at the wooden mini ramp they plan to build.
The video features the proposed ramp design, along with photos of Captain Rajab, Ezz, and Hamza at the site where the project will take shape.
Work has already begun, starting with levelling the ground and preparing the area for construction.
It may seem like a small beginning, but collecting materials, preparing the site, and working on the design are all part of getting the project off the ground.
The goal is to create a safe space where children in Gaza can skate, play, spend time together, and enjoy something that brings them happiness.

With limited resources and no backing from the wider skateboarding industry, the team is relying on its own efforts and donations from people who believe in what they are trying to build.
In a personal appeal, Rajab explained that the dream began one step at a time, but the team still desperately needs financial support to continue.
Every contribution, no matter how small, can help bring them closer to completing the skatepark for Gaza's children.

The team is asking the skateboarding community and anyone willing to help to contribute through its fundraising campaign.
Every donation can help cover the materials and work needed to turn the proposed design into a place where local children can finally skate.
Those who want to support the project can find the fundraising campaign here.

"“A dream begins with one step.. and another 🛹🔨”
In this video, watch the design of the wooden ramp (mini ramp) that we will be implementing, and photos of Captain Rajab, Ezz, and Hamza at the place where the project will be executed. The photos show the beginning of work on levelling the ground — the first step toward our dream.
Every step we take, every piece of wood we collect, every day we work, brings us closer to our goal: a safe place where Gaza’s children can play, skate, and dream.
We are in desperate need of your support. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to making this dream come true. Don’t hesitate — your presence with us is the secret to our continuity.
