After the Uganda Skateboard Society skatepark was demolished when the owners took back the land, the crew needed to find a way to build a new home for skateboarding in Uganda.
he community came through.
The original goal was to raise $80,000 for the new skatepark, but supporters from Uganda and around the world helped bring the total to $82,010.
The Uganda Skateboard Society thanked everyone who donated, shared posts, made videos, covered the campaign, or supported the cause in any way.
Longtime partners Adidas Skateboarding and Thrasher also helped secure the new land and spread the word.
The society also thanked The Muska, pro skaters, fans, skate media, mainstream media, and Salad Days of Skateboarding, which managed the GoFundMe through its US nonprofit partnership.
Construction details are still being finalized, with an official announcement coming once the timeline is confirmed.
From Uganda to the world, the new skatepark is one step closer to becoming a reality.
