The skateboarding and punk communities are mourning the loss of OG skateboarder James "Sperm" Broderick.

News of his passing began circulating after Pack Ratt Records & Route 44 shared an emotional tribute remembering one of their final moments together.

According to their post, Broderick had stopped by the shop only a few weeks ago. They spent time together and even went to a punk show at the Casbah.

Looking back, they said they were thankful they had the chance to give him a hug and say goodbye, never imagining it would be the last time they would see him.

Their message read:

"I can’t believe I’m posting this. RIP JAMES BRODERICK A.K.A. SPERM. He came and visited the shop just a few weeks ago, took him to a punk show at the Casbah. I'm stoked I got to give him a hug and say goodbye to him. I didn’t realize it’d be the last time. Let all cherish the ones we have with us now because you never know when they’re gonna be gone. Love you Sperm. Rest in peace, brother."

The heartfelt tribute quickly caught the attention of homies, core heads, and members of the punk scene. Many shared their own memories of Broderick, offering condolences and remembering the impact he had on the people around him over the years.

While details surrounding his passing have not been publicly shared, the response from both communities shows how many lives he touched.

Messages of love, support, and remembrance continue to appear across social media as people honor his memory.

Broderick was an OG to many who grew up around skateboarding and punk music. For those who knew him personally and those who crossed paths with him over the years, he will be remembered through the friendships he built and the memories he left behind.

Our thoughts are with Broderick's family, friends, and everyone mourning his loss. Rest in peace.
