Austin Heilman has officially been named a professional skateboarder for Foundation Skateboards under Tum Yeto, and the news has been making rounds across the skateboarding scene for all the right reasons.
Heilman has been putting in steady work for a long time.
He has been filming clips, showing up to demos, spending long days at spots, and staying consistent with skating as part of his daily life.
Nothing about this happened overnight. It is the result of years of commitment and showing up even when things were not going his way.
If you have been following his skating, you already know his name has been floating around for a while.
His part with Brixton helped introduce him to a wider audience, and his work with Ace Trucks on the AF1Inverted brought even more attention to his skating style and control. He also put out a Garage part and other clips that kept building his reputation within the skateboarding community.
Foundation Skateboards deciding to bring him on as a professional was done in a way that caught him off guard in the best way.
The crew showed up during his jiu jitsu class, turning an ordinary training session into a moment he will probably never forget.
It was a genuine celebration with the people closest to him being part of it.
This addition makes sense considering how closely Heilman fits with the brand and the direction they have been going for the squad.
His skating has always been raw and controlled at the same time, and he has a strong ability to handle technical spots while still keeping things creative.
Now that he is officially on the team as a professional, people are already looking forward to his full part.
And given his consistency so far, there is a lot of interest in what he will put together when the cameras are rolling for a full project.
For now, it is a well earned step forward for Heilman and another chapter with Foundation. Congrats!
