YouTube skater Chad Caruso just got a package in the mail that he’s been waiting for.

Inside was a Guinness World Records certificate for the fastest skateboard crossing of the United States. It’s a big deal, but Chad’s post said that the award is only part of the story.

He shared his excitement online, writing about the wild ride of the past seven years. Back then, he was a high school dropout, drinking too much, jobless, and even facing jail time.

Life was rough, and most people probably wouldn’t have guessed he’d end up here. Now he’s a Guinness World Record holder, showing how far he’s come since those days.

The record itself is cool, but the real meaning comes from what he’s been through to get there.

He credits getting sober as the turning point that changed everything for him. Skateboarding was always there as an outlet, a way to clear his head and stay focused.

Over time, those small steps added up, and the skateboard that once got him into trouble became the tool that carried him across the country and into a new life.

Chad says this past seven years taught him more than any award could.

Every mile on his board, every decision to stay clean, and every challenge he faced has shaped who he is today. Getting sober might have been the hardest thing he’s done, but it’s also the choice he’s most proud of.

The award is proof of his record, but for Chad, the story is about growth, persistence, and turning a rough start into something meaningful.

He shared the moment with his followers, encouraging people to chase whatever it is that keeps them moving forward, no matter how far the road may be.

"Check out what came in the mail 🏆
@guinnessworldrecords

It’s been a crazy trip these past 7 years. Went from a drunk and jobless high school drop out facing jail time to being a Guinness world record holder 😅

Having the record is an honor but the real meaning for me comes from all the experiences had and challenges overcome since getting sober. Best choice I’ve ever made 🙌🏼"
