Core shop Westside Skateshop wants to let the community know about a recent incident in the shop.

Over the past month, a man had been stopping by regularly, and staff were welcoming him and showing him around the store. Unfortunately, the situation flipped when he snatched a board and dipped out.

The shop team had been trying to make him feel part of the community, offering help and advice along the way.

But one visit changed everything.

While being helped by the staff, he took a board from the wall and left. Westside noted that they treat visitors like family and aim to keep the space friendly for everyone.

Skateboarding has always been a tight community, and incidents like this are rare. The shop is asking anyone with information about the man to get in touch and reminds the community that he is not welcome there.

They are committed to keeping the space safe and welcoming for all skaters and supporters.

"🚨 THIEF ALERT 🚨
This guy came into the shop today and stole a board. He has a handicap right arm and said he’s from Denver. He hung out at the shop yesterday. Gave him some free product to be nice. He's been coming in the shop for the last month. I was trying to show him the scene. Introduce him to people. Today he comes in, asks Casey if he can try on a couple pairs of shoes. Soon as Casey walks into the back to get the shoes, the guy snatched a Powell Flight board off the wall and ran out of the shop. Here at Westside we try to treat everyone like family. We would’ve probably given him the board had he asked. Skateboarding is a tight knit community. If anyone has any information about this guy please feel free to reach out to us. If you see him around please let him know he’s not welcome. The guy drives a Prius. Thank you"
