Right wing pro skateboarder Tim Pool just dropped a skateboard deck that says “Don’t Be Gay” right in the middle of Pride Month.
Yep, that’s real.
He posted about it with the caption, “Our Pride month board is now available.”
The board is part of his brand, The Boonies, and naturally, the internet lost it almost instantly.
People are split. Some are calling it flat-out homophobic. Others think it’s Pool being sarcastic or trolling - typical internet chaos.
But things got even weirder when pro skater Richie Jackson jumped in and commented, “As a gay man I endorse this massage.”
Now, whether Richie meant “message” and it was just a typo, or if he’s trolling just as hard, no one really knows. It’s got people scratching their heads. Is he being sarcastic? Is it a joke? Is this just more skater-style chaos?
People online are going back and forth. Some say the board’s trying too hard to be edgy. Others think it’s a weird attempt at humor. And a few folks are just sitting back watching the whole thing explode without really knowing what to make of it.
If you've been around the skate world or the Pool orbit for even a minute, this kind of thing probably doesn’t surprise you. Still, dropping something like this during Pride Month? That’s going to get attention no matter how you frame it.
The deck is out there now on their site. Some people are angry, some are confused, and others are just trying to figure out if the whole thing is one big joke or not.
Skateboarding’s always had a weird relationship with stuff like this, sarcasm, irony, trolling, and controversy all kind of come with the territory. But even in that world, this one’s... a lot.
