Is the Feeble Grind gone forever?
According to the skate community and the internet’s loudest skate cop, Weckingball, it just might be.
After putting it to a vote, professional skateboarder Weckingball announced that the name “Feeble Grind” is officially being retired and replaced with a new title: the “Grosso Grind.”
The change didn’t come out of nowhere. For years, skaters have had mixed feelings about the name “Feeble Grind.”
It’s a classic move, no doubt. But some felt the term didn’t quite match the power and style the trick can actually carry. And if there’s anyone loud enough to call for change, it’s Weckingball.
On the other hand, the late legend Jeff Grosso brought raw style, heavy opinions, and a whole lot of heart to skateboarding.
When he passed, the community lost more than just a skater. It lost a historian, a loud-mouth with a mission, and someone who truly loved skateboarding with all its weirdness and flaws.
Weckingball’s poll sparked plenty of talk online. Some backed the idea right away. Others were skeptical.
Was this a joke? Was the poll rigged? Did Grosso even like the Feeble Grind? Those questions didn’t slow it down. The name “Grosso Grind” started to catch on almost instantly.
The reasoning behind it? According to Weckingball, the trick needed a name that didn’t sound frail.
“Feeble” felt off. So, why not swap it out for something that actually honors someone who gave skating his all and never held back?
Grosso’s name doesn’t just sound stronger. It carries weight.
And yes, both frontside and backside versions will carry the new name. Frontside Grosso Grind. Backside Grosso Grind. That’s the deal.
Love it or hate it, the Grosso Grind is here. And even if some skaters still call it by the old name out of habit, the conversation has shifted.
