As an ally standing up, supporting, and encouraging the LGBTQIA+ community, Switch God Jerry Hsu has collaborated with There Skateboards with "ILYSM" guest signature skateboard decks for Skate Shop Day, dropping on February 17, 2024.
After skateboarding legend Brian Anderson came out as gay in 2016, the skate scene is becoming more accepted with Arin Lester’s transgender revelation elevating her to the Sci-Fi Fantasy pro status, Leo Baker receiving pro skate shoes from Nike SB, and Cher Strauberry welcomed by Vans in open arms made it a dream come true to the growing queer skate community.
Since the they, them, theirs gender-neutral in the scene are now part of skateboarding and Gifted Hater backing Hsu, the There skate team promotes the importance of equal rights for everyone – regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender, or religion, so everybody is welcome, and no one will be excluded.
Hsu's partnership with There clearly indicates the increasing inclusiveness and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community in the skateboarding world.
The collaboration recognizes and celebrates the diverse identities within the community and aims to break down any barriers and promote an environment of love.
