Norwegian black metal act Mork has just released a devilish new lyric video for their single "Bortgang" via Peaceville Records. The track is taken from their forthcoming album, "Dypet," which is set to be released on March 24, 2023.
Mork, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Thomas Eriksen, has been steadily gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative bands in the Norwegian black metal scene.
With a sound that blends traditional black metal with elements of post-punk, shoegaze, and atmospheric music, Mork has been attracting a diverse and dedicated fan base from around the world.
The new single, "Bortgang", is a perfect example of Mork's unique sound. Featuring haunting, atmospheric guitar riffs and Eriksen's powerful vocals, the track builds to a climax with a ferocious blast of black metal fury. The lyrics, which are in Norwegian, are inspired by the idea of torch-wielding men who lead the way through the darkness, both literal and metaphorical.
"One of my most beautiful poems, to date." Eriksen said. "Written whilst on a roadtrip in Norway, in a beautiful fjord somewhere in western Norway (ca. 2020). The poem is about passing away and what that might mean to you and the ones left behind."
He continued. "The music was also something I was very pleased with, feeling it was the most beautiful piece of music I’ve written thus far. One day I figured to combine the two, and there you have the song."
