Starting a skateboard company is one thing. Keeping it going for two years in today's market is another story.
With so many skateboard brands competing for attention and several companies shutting their doors over the last couple of years, many people believed 2 Cents would not be around for long. Instead, the company has reached its second anniversary and is still growing.
Founded by pro skateboarder Ryan Decenzo, 2 Cents has continued releasing boards, building its team, and connecting with skaters who have supported the brand since day one.
At a time when the market is crowded and many smaller companies are finding it difficult to stay in business, making it to two years is something worth celebrating.
To mark the occasion, 2 Cents shared a message with its followers:
"2YEARS OF 2CENTS!
Thank you to all the love and support you guys have shown us so far for the past two years. To celebrate, we’re giving away a free sheet of grip tape with each deck purchased, and a custom 2Cents Dog Tag by @pchjewelers with each order (While supplies last).
We’re stoked to say we now offer FLAT RATE shipping for the USA. Mainland: $15, Hawaii & Alaska: $25"
Along with thanking everyone who has supported the company, 2 Cents is celebrating by including a free sheet of grip tape with every deck purchase.
Core heads will also receive a custom 2 Cents dog tag made by P C H Jewelers while supplies last.
The company also announced new flat rate shipping across the United States, with $15 shipping for the mainland and $25 for Hawaii and Alaska.
The skateboard industry has become more competitive than ever. New brands appear every year while others quietly disappear after only a short time.
That is why reaching the two year mark means more than just another anniversary.
It shows that 2 Cents has been able to keep moving forward even as many companies have struggled to stay open.
For Decenzo and everyone involved with the brand, the anniversary is also a chance to thank the skaters and customers who have helped keep 2 Cents going.
After two years, the company is still here and showing no signs of slowing down.
